Senior Android Developer, New York - Mobile App Developer Jobs

Lab49 is currently looking for a Senior Android Developer who will play a critical role on key projects for Lab49 clients. Working in a collaborative and innovative project team, with direct client-facing interactions, you will have an opportunity to apply your skills and expertise to design innovative applications that solve complex problems and enhance performance and productivity at our marquis clients.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform utilized in financial services
Work with team leadership, Product Owners, Designers, and other technologists to create software to be deployed in enterprise and public app stores based on business and technical priorities
Actively contribute to the adoption of robust software architecture, development and engineering best practices, and the adoption of new technologies
Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions to intelligently solve problems for Lab49's clients
Utilize industry best practices to ensure code quality and robustness including edge cases, usability and general reliability
Advocate test-driven development and deliver high quality, resilient solutions
Resolve defects and enhance application performance by analyzing and optimizing code
This is an onsite role - 5 days/ week in the WTC are in NYC

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE

8+years of experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software systems
Proficiency in Kotlin and experience with native Android development tools such as Jetpack Compose
Experience in consumer banking including account management and onboarding.
Familiarity with integrating RESTful APIs and third-party libraries
Experience with agile development methodologies
Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for mobile applications
Understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and best practices to create intuitive and engaging user experiences
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience in fraud management/KYC/AML and regulatory reporting
Experience using on device biometrics for authentication
A strong portfolio of released applications on the Google Play Store
Experience with AppConfig community standards and enterprise app distribution
College degree in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience
Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, Copilot) to improve team velocity and code quality, and help the team adopt them responsibly

$160,000 - $180,000 a year

Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.

Salary range disclosure as required by S9427A when hiring in New York.
