And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.&nbsp;</strong></p></div></div></div></div></div><h3 data-pm-slice="1 1 []">About the Role:</h3><p>The New York Times is hiring a Senior iOS Engineer for our Storytelling team, which create <span class="hl-blue-solid replace_or_delete" data-highlight-id="5dd75d034bd51a4c34b321226b4abb6f-0">innovative</span> new features that reshape how readers experience our journalism.</p><p>This is a hybrid role based in NYC, typically in-office two days a week. <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="0e52dcf0546010ddf2d774cec5732ceb-0">You'll report to</span> the Senior Native Engineering Manager, Storytelling.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><span class="hl-blue-underline replace" data-highlight-id="b4f10d90d6dc0d569d3ffaa80fe821e0-0">Design, build, and maintain</span> secure, scalable iOS features in Swift</li><li>Bring a product mindset to collaboratively align technical solutions with product and editorial goals</li><li><span class="hl-blue-underline replace" data-highlight-id="1a81ac5a6258f952375ee79e13c6f64c-0">Working</span> with backend and cross-platform engineers to deliver cohesive, integrated features</li><li>Contribute to roadmap planning, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of released features</li><li>Stay up-to-date on iOS best practices and bring new ideas to the team</li></ul><p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="7f34a08655225e6033641aa97d202e9f-0">5+ years of iOS experience</span> in Swift, including unit testing, networking, data persistence, and UI development</li><li>SwiftUI, UIKit, iOS design patterns, profiling, memory management, and multi-threading experience</li><li>Experience translating product goals into excellent, delivered features</li></ul><div class="has-nudge" data-nudge-id="cdc8f7e3-f9c6-45fa-9a00-b068142242ce"><p><strong><span class="hl-red-underline delete" data-highlight-id="236c88a10f208f676e0e8b974aebee42-0">Preferred Qualifications:</span></strong></p></div><ul><li>Experience building media-rich user interfaces with images and video</li><li>Comfortable collaborating with backend engineers to <span class="hl-blue-solid replace_or_delete" data-highlight-id="a78f051030f6ed9d319e77f77ed678ac-0">optimize</span> API Interaction at scale</li></ul><p>#LI-Hybrid&nbsp;</p><p>REQ-018590</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is between:</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$140,000</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$155,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The New York Times Company is committed to being the world’s best source of independent, reliable and quality journalism.
