Cara Care, a digital health company backed by Bayer AG, is on a mission to improve people’s digestive health through technology. As we expand our product portfolio and modernize our platform, we’re looking for a versatile, pragmatic, and forward-thinking Senior React Native Engineer(m/f/x) to help shape the future of digital therapeutics.
Your Role
You’ll join a cross-functional product team with high ownership, lean processes, and a clear focus: deliver real impact to patients. We’re looking for someone who thrives on solving real-world problems with code, is technology-open, and knows when to build fast and when to build right.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship high-quality React Native apps for iOS and Android with TypeScript.
- Own the full mobile lifecycle: architecture, implementation, automated testing, release management, monitoring, and iteration.
- Integrate native capabilities (push notifications, deep links, biometric auth, camera/sensors); write and maintain native modules when needed (Swift/Kotlin).
- Drive mobile performance and reliability (startup time, bundle size, memory, battery) and meet accessibility best practices.
- Set up and evolve mobile CI/CD (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions/Bitrise), internal testing (TestFlight/Play Console), and release pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Medical to explore, define, and deliver patient-centric features, and to improve our current platform.
- Uphold technical excellence in architecture, code quality, and security, especially under healthcare regulations (ISO 62304, TR-03161, MDR).
- Contribute to a platform that powers multiple regulated digital health products across indications like IBS, GERD, and upcoming expansions.
- Mentor other developers and help raise the technical bar across the team.
Requirements
Your Profile
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on React Native and shipping production apps.
- Expert with React Native and TypeScript, React Navigation, state management, and testing (Jest, React Native Testing Library; Detox a plus).
- Proven track record delivering to App Store and Google Play, including handling certificates/provisioning, in-app updates, and staged rollouts.
- Solid understanding of mobile security and privacy: secure storage, keychain/keystore, certificate pinning, data minimization, and PII handling.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD and release automation (Fastlane, GitHub Actions or Bitrise), and tools like Sentry.
- Product mindset: you’ve worked in product-centric teams, collaborated closely with non-technical stakeholders, and care deeply about UX and accessibility.
- Bonus: experience in regulated industries, healthcare, or other security-conscious environments; native iOS/Android development (Swift/Kotlin)
